Very independent British designer Grace Wales Bonner has launched “Vision Songs”, a collaboration with musician Laraaji.
The young designer, whose collaboration with Adidas has already met with great success, went back to 1984, when the album was released. Vision Songs Vol.1 by Laraaji, who gave the collection its name.
For Grace Walles Bonner, Laraaji’s album – recorded in her New York apartment – is “an offering of fervent and inspired song, channeled straight from the sky.”
Cut from 100% cotton jersey and hand-dyed in vibrant orange and pink tones, the collection is offered in a limited edition of just 60 pieces, sold exclusively online at walesbonner.net. All proceeds from the collection will be donated to the Care India Foundation.
The capsule collection is accompanied by a series produced in collaboration with Bharat Sikka in Hampi, India. A Spotify playlist, also titled “Vision Songs”, brings together mystical tracks from Laraaji, and brings musical harmony to Wales Bonner’s collection.
Grace Wales Bonner started her home in 2014, having just graduated from Central Saint Martins in London. In 2015, she received the Emerging Men’s Fashion Design Award at the British Fashion Awards. A year later, in the wake of her first solo show – titled Ezekiel -, the designer received the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers.
In 2019, Grace Wales Bonner collaborated with Maria Grazia Chiuri at Dior on a cruise collection presented in Marrakech, which reinterpreted the famous New Look, before winning the BFC / Vogue Designer Fashion Fund.
The men’s and women’s collections of Wales Bonner, one of Europe’s most influential young designers, are now distributed by Matchesfashion.com, Dover Street Market, Net-A-Porter, Barneys, Ssense, Browns, Boon the Shop and the Galeries Lafayette, among other prestigious points of sale.
