several regions are reactivating the white plan in their hospitals

Under the pressure of the fifth wave of Covid-19, the regional health agencies (ARS) of Ile-de-France, Occitanie, Pays de la Loire and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté announced, Wednesday, December 8 , the triggering of the white plan in all their hospitals.

After Corsica last week and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region on Tuesday, six metropolitan regions reactivated the white plan, which notably allows operations to be deprogrammed and staff to be reassigned to critical care services.

The ARS of Ile-de-France justified this decision by ” voltage [qui] has been accentuated for several days “, establishments in the region counting 2,608 hospitalized Covid-19 patients on Wednesday, including 505 in critical care.

In anticipation of a “Gradual rise” and as the Christmas holidays approach, “The white plan must allow establishments to organize themselves in such a way as to [s’]to assure “ that caregivers can “Take advantage of their end-of-year holidays”, adds the Ile-de-France agency, which has also reactivated its “HR reinforcement unit”.

Other regions have already chosen to reduce hospital activity in order to redeploy their human resources. The Pays de la Loire ARS has therefore asked its public and private establishments “A deprogramming of 20% of the activity of medicine and surgery (…) by preserving urgent interventions ”.

Calling all volunteer health professionals

In Occitania, the ARS has raised the possibility of “Gradually deprogram certain lower priority operations”, without setting a goal at this stage. Covid-19 patients currently fill a third of the 560 intensive care beds in the region, including “The occupancy rate reaches 92%”, all patients combined, “And even 100% in several departments”.

Same phenomenon in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, where “More than 600” Covid-19 patients are hospitalized to date, “Including 100 in critical care”, underlined the ARS, warning that certain activities could “Be brought to be deprogrammed”.

In Hauts-de-France, the ARS activated the white plan in several territories – Lille metropolitan area, Hainaut and Oise – and asked all establishments in the region to open “114 critical care beds and 260 medicine beds” additional “On the horizon of mid-December” for “Anticipate any risk of saturation at the end of the year”.
