No Way Home Trailer Breaking Records

Tom Holland reacts to the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer breaking viewing records and promises much more craziness to come in the final film.

Tom Holland has reacted to the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer smashing viewing records, promising much more to come in the final film. The film is one of the most highly anticipated entries in the MCU to date, largely because of its inclusion of past Spider-Man movie characters like Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin. The trailer was viewed 355.5 million times in its first 24 hours online, breaking the record previously held by Avengers: Endgame by over 60 million views.

It’s safe to say that No Way Home has more excitement built up around it than any MCU film or show since Endgame. So far, most of Phase 4 has consisted of previously established characters getting their first starring roles, like in WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, and Black Widow. The MCU’s next two films, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals, will both focus on entirely new characters. That makes No Way Home the first entry in a pre-established MCU subseries in Phase 4.

Even with that, and with all the exciting rumors about Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire returning as their versions of Spider-Man, the response to the No Way Home Trailer has been shocking. Holland himself has now responded to the trailer’s record-breaking success with a post on Instagram, in which he shared a screenshot of a Variety article discussing the trailer’s popularity. In the caption, Holland promised that “It only gets crazier.” Check out Holland’s reaction below:

Holland’s promise of much more to come in Spider-Man: No Way Home is exciting, and it also seems bound to be true given how few of the rumors surrounding the film were actually confirmed by the trailer. Molina’s Doc Ock was shown, and Dafoe’s Green Goblin was basically confirmed, though the actor himself didn’t appear. Some eagle-eyed fans have pointed out shots that could contain Lizard, Sandman, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Jamie Foxx’s Electro, but it’s hard to say much for sure based on the footage alone.

Of course, the biggest hanging question is whether or not Maguire and Garfield will actually return – a move that would create a live-action version of the beloved “Spider-Verse” storyline. It’s possible that Disney won’t confirm their presence until the film actually comes out, or they could be saving them for a later trailer. Either way, No Way Home is setting itself up to be one of the MCU’s biggest movies yet, and its record breaking might not stop with the first trailer – especially if Holland’s promise of more craziness turns out to be true.
