Patatam is building a network of branded shops

Patatam is building a real network at the brand dedicated to second-hand fashion. Having started with an online platform specializing in second-hand collection and resale, the French company born in 2013 then added to its activities that of service provider for traditional brands wishing to explore this new mode of consumption. After a first test in its birthplace of Anglet a year ago, within the BAB2 shopping center, Patatam signs new stores under the banner, including a first foray into Ile-de-France.

On July 1, two stores were inaugurated, in the Bay2 shopping center in Torcy over 400 square meters and in the V7 shopping center in Villejuif (270 square meters). Two large sales areas in which clothes (women, children, babies) are displayed on wooden furniture (from French forests) designed by the Créabois Gironde joinery. The restocking is carried out every week, and more than 1,500 brands make up the brand’s second-hand field (including Zara, Cache Cache, Primark, Bonobo, etc.).

“In view of the results of our first store in the BAB2 shopping center in Anglet and despite the health restrictions that we suffered, we are very satisfied and these two openings are part of our strategy of setting up in shopping centers or areas commercial and that we will continue to deploy in the coming months “, book Eric Gagnaire, co-founder and president of Patatam.

By the end of 2021, the company plans to open five additional branches. Including three in Lormont, Marseille and Roubaix on the current format, a “Patatam Vintage” store in Biarritz which will display its first city center concept, and a unit in Madrid, Spain, which will constitute its first address outside France.

To accelerate its growth and “meet strong demand”, the store base is opening up to franchising. The first two units operated by partners will lift the curtain in Saint-Malo and Rennes in February 2022. The objective is to “test the operational functioning of the franchise for one year then to strongly accelerate the openings from 2023 if the results are the appointment”.

Last May, the company headquartered in Hastingues in the Landes, announced a fundraising of 7 million euros from European funds Quadia, Creas and Colam Impact. Structuring its supply chain, Patatam has just automated its 3,500 square meter warehouse, in order to be able to accelerate the pace and ship 750,000 items per month, against 200,000 currently. It is also planning for the start of 2022 the construction of an additional logistics site in the Lille region, covering more than 10,000 square meters.

Finally, Patatam has also recently forged a partnership with the Breton group Beaumanoir for the collection of used clothing in its 1,000 stores, while it has totaled 300 second-hand resale corners from distribution players such as Auchan, Cora, or Gemo.
