Clothing federations publish an eco-design guide

After the release of guides dedicated to “responsible sourcing for desirable brands” (2009) then to “green resources” (2020), the clothing federations (French Federation of Women’s Ready-to-Wear, French Federation of men’s clothing, and Promincor – French Lingerie) have just published their first guide on eco-design.

A guide intended “to rethink its collections and its brand”, explain the authors, “by integrating the environmental and social impacts throughout the life cycle of products, from their creation to their end of life, including production, distribution and use “.

Divided into three chapters, the practical guide to eco-design focuses in a first chapter entitled “A brand perspective” on the founding values ​​of eco-design within corporate strategy, questions the emergence of new business models and responsible marketing.

The second chapter “A method for eco-design” sets out the main principles of eco-design and the essential tools to carry out your project. The last section “An enlightened choice of material” deals with questions of transparency, traceability, durability, biodegradability, recycling and the types of certified materials.

Launched thanks to contributions from DEFI, the Fédération de la haute couture et de la mode, the Alliance du commerce and the eco-organization Re-Fashion, the guide incorporates numerous tools, maps, simple and educational checklists. to guide French fashion players to take action.
