Loki has been on everyone’s lips for weeks, mainly because fans of Tom Hiddleston (The Night Manager – 93%, The Scarlet Peak – 71%, Kong: Skull Island – 76%) rekindled their excitement after watching their series on Disney Plus, but in recent weeks a poll was also conducted that revealed the villain / antihero as the favorite in the entire history of Marvel film adaptations.

Rotten Tomatoes invited his followers on social networks to vote in one of his famous showdowns, this was the best Marvel villain, and in the first round the losers were villains from old movies like Blade – 88%, The Fantastic Four (2005) – 27%, and Daredevil: The Man Without Fear – 44%, as well as films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe that did not stand out for having the best villains, such as Hulk: The Incredible Man – 67%, Doctor Strange: Sorcerer Supreme – 89% and Captain Marvel – 60%.
In the second round we can see that the X-Men movies are still appreciated by the public, since the first Mystique, the two versions of Magneto, Sabretooth from X-Men Origins: Wolverine – 38% and even Apocalypse, competed against MCU characters like Alexander Pierce, Vulture, Ultron, and Zemo. Villains from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy (Drag Me to Hell – 92%, Morgue Tenants – 78%, The Devil’s Awakening – 96%), specifically Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus.
The third round saw the Green Goblin face off against Killmonger, Thanos against Mysterio, Doctor Octopus against Magneto, and Red Skull against Hela. Killmonger, Thanos, Magneto and Hela were the winners. On the other side they faced Loki and Sabretooth, Mystique and Vulture, Ultron and Magneto, and Zemo and the Winter Soldier. The winners were Loki, Mystique, Magneto, and the Winter Soldier.

Killmonger faced Thanos in the fourth round, and Magneto against Hela; the winners were Thanos and Magneto. On the other side Loki faced Mystique, and Magneto the Winter Soldier, the winners were Loki and Magneto. In the fifth round Thanos beat Michael Fassbender’s Magneto and Loki beat Ian McKellen’s Magneto, leaving the final for fans to decide between Thanos and Loki, and although the latter was the winner, it was only by a small margin, he won with 52% of the 32,722 votes.
Hiddleston has brought the God of Lies to life since Thor – 77%, released in 2011, and since its first appearance it has stolen the hearts of many. The film’s Shakespearean drama coupled with Loki and Thor’s chemistry kicked off an adventure that is not over yet, and that doesn’t seem to be close to ending, especially after the season finale of Loki – 96%, where the doors of the multiverse were first opened.

Much can be argued about the result of this survey, but what few can deny is that Loki is one of the longest-lived supervillains in a film superhero saga, despite the fact that Magneto appeared between 2000 and 2019, he was played by two different actors and half of the movies he appeared in were good while the other half left a lot to be desired. Loki had the charisma to stay in the minds of the fans and has been lucky since most of the movies where we have been well received by the public and critics.

With the Disney Plus series the character took a new turn and we will see him for longer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, perhaps helping Doctor Strange and other heroes in the multiverse war that seems to be about to begin. The future of Loki and the franchise is very promising, we will see if Kang the Conqueror manages to overcome the strong impression that Thanos and Loki left on the public, or if it will be another villain who will remove the favorite position from the God of Lies. .
