Crazy Rich Asians’ Henry Golding responds to James Bond rumours

Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding has responded once again to the James Bond rumours.

The Snake Eyes: GI Joe Origins actor has been one of several names suggested to take over the role from Daniel Craig following the release of his swan song 007 outing No Time To Die this September.

Having already described the vacancy as “an opportunity for change” and confirmed his willingness to portray the character, Henry recently hinted that he is still interested in landing the gig.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Henry was asked about his thoughts on the Bond casting rumours – and confirmed he’s more than happy for his hat to remain in the ring.

“I guess they are looking for another candidate,” Henry said. “So, of course, any right sort of man would want to put their hand up for it. So sure, let’s talk.”

The comments follow him saying previously of the Bond rumours: “It’s an honour to even be in the conversation. It’s one of the greatest film roles ever, you’d be stupid to be like, ‘I don’t want to do that shit.'”

He added to Attitude: “It would be the wildest ride. I’m super excited to see Daniel Craig’s last venture… but isn’t it great that we’re having that conversation?

“Isn’t it great that people are like, ‘OK, now’s the time, why the hell can’t we have a black Bond, an Asian Bond, a mixed-race Bond, a non-distinct Bond?'”

No Time to Die is out in UK cinemas on September 30 and in US cinemas on October 8. All the previous Bond movies are available on DVD or Blu-ray.
