World premiere of “Dune” will be at the Venice Film Festival

“Dune” remains one of the most anticipated releases of 2021 as it is the new adaptation of the homonymous novel by Frank Herbert, considered one of the most important pillars in science fiction literature, and everything seems to indicate that this production will debut through the front door.

According to recent information from Deadline, director Denis Villeneuve’s new space epic will make its international debut with a special screening at the Venice Film Festival, anticipating the great care and quality that has been put in place at the time of making this highly anticipated adaptation.

The premiere of “Dune” was originally planned for December 2020, but the sanitary conditions of the pandemic caused Warner Bros to postpone its arrival to the audience for a whole year. After making a controversial decision to release it simultaneously in theaters and HBO Max, WarnerMedia executives have made the decision to postpone its arrival in streaming just over 20 days after its debut on the big screen.

The Venice Film Festival is preparing to take place from September 1 to 11. At the moment, it is not known if “Dune” will be in charge of opening the event or if it will be among the scheduled screenings (even if it is out of competition). However, its mere presence is more than enough to grant it a certain level of international prestige.
