this is the only modern manga that has interested Akira Toriyama

Akira Toriyama is one of the most popular and well-known characters in the anime world, but also about whom little is known beyond his work, especially in recent years that he has opted for a totally private life by no longer appearing in public , give interviews or even meet with the people you work with on Dragon Ball projects.

It is thanks to the published volumes of the original manga and some interviews from the 80s, that we were able to learn a little more about his tastes, such as his adoration for the Walt Disney film 101 Dalmatians or his fondness for kung-fu tapes starring Jackie Chan, his idol and later friend.

Now, thanks to a review of an interview from 2018, we can know that in recent years, the ‘sensei’ read and appreciated one of the modern manga, which has also had success with its animated version. Do you have any idea what it is?

According to what was told by ComicBook, the ‘sensei’ expressed having read Black Clover and, incidentally, praised the author of the work, Yuki Tabata:

“I don’t read much manga these days, but I really liked what I saw of Black Clover. The author has a great sense of impact and his protagonist is truly charismatic ”, were his words.

Although many fans have criticized Asta, the protagonist of the aforementioned manga and anime, for being “desperate”, it seems that the creator of Dragon Ball likes this very much.

Commendations among mangakas are not uncommon in this industry. In fact, in 2018, Tabata himself drew Goku with his characteristic style and confessed that the first anime and manga he read was Dragon Ball, which became an inspiration for him.
