‘The House of the Dragon’ could shed light on the darkness of Daenerys in the final stretch of ‘Game of Thrones’

‘House of the Dragon’ is its original title, it will premiere on HBO in 2022 and perhaps we will better understand the family and genetic context of the Targaryens.

The House of the Dragon, House of the Dragon in its original title, it’s going to be a golden opportunity to make viewers understand better what the heck happened to Daenerys Targaryen on the final stretch of Game of Thrones. Two years have passed since then, but we know you haven’t forgotten. After seven seasons building a heroine, capable of giving birth to three dragons when the creatures were extinct, freeing hundreds of thousands of slaves in different cities and reaching Westeros on her own to claim what had been taken from her family when I was just a baby the team of the HBO series turned its most important protagonist into a genocide, capable of reducing King’s Landing to ashes, taking away whoever it takes.

The episode in which it happened, ‘The Bells’ (8 × 05) was visually a delight, an explosion of special effects and an exhibition of Drogon in its purest form. However, many followers of the series were not prepared to see their main candidate to sit on the Iron Throne destroy a city in cold blood and kill so many innocents. However, that Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) go crazy and end up following in the footsteps of his father, the “Mad King”, it had always been one of the theories that had been put on the table when talking about the end of Game of Thrones.

The reason for the suspicions lay in the Targaryen family’s past and, considering that The House of the Dragon is intended to fully explore a part of the history of Daenerys’ ancestors, it seems safe to think that in it we will find answers to many of the questions around khaleesi.

Inspired by the book by George RR Martin Blood and fire and set 300 years before the events narrated in Game of Thrones, The House of the Dragon It will introduce us to some characters from the Targaryen mythology and will allow us to witness first-hand some of the events that would end up becoming legend, such as the civil war known as A Dance with Dragons.

Every time a Targaryen is born, the gods flip the coin and the world waits to see which side it will fall on: greatness or madness.

The “Targaryen madness” is nothing new, but it is an aspect that had always been attributed to the ancestors of Daenerys and that is part of the mythology of the universe created by George RR Martin. Therefore, despite the reasons that led the young woman to lose control, there was always that family component that can be explored further in the new series. Obviously, that won’t change the disappointment of some to see their hero turned into a villain almost overnight, but The House of the Dragon yes it could paint us a much broader context that was not explored in Game of Thrones.

How do the Targaryens react in times of war? What can they do to maintain power? Perhaps we will discover it in the way of Aegon II and Rhaenyra, two righteous contenders for the throne who will be played by Matt Smith and Emma D’Arcy in the prequel series.
