Keira Knightley has drawn criticism from fans after revealing that she wore Chanel and red lipstick every day during the confinement.
The actress reflected on her experience and that of her family during the pandemic in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK for the July issue of the magazine, where she recalled how she, her husband James Righton, and their eldest six-year-old daughter Edie played dress-up for entertainment.
“We have a trampoline in our garden, and we decided we could only wear dresses,” the 36-year-old said in the middle. “I wear red lipstick every day, and every bit of Chanel that I have in my closet, and my daughter Edie had Chanel ribbons braided in her hair and fairy wings.”
According to Knightley, her husband was also allowed on the trampoline as long as he was dressed in one of his “peacock-colored Gucci suits.”
As for why the actress, who has been a Chanel ambassador since 2007, decided to implement the haute couture dress code, she told the outlet that the activity helped keep the family’s spirits high.
“I thought, ‘What’s the point of these beautiful things in the closet when it feels quite apocalyptic and scary outside?’ It felt very important to be really happy for the children! “Knightley, who also shares her one-year-old daughter Delilah with Righton.
Knightley then recalled a “strange” moment when he was sanitizing groceries at the beginning of the pandemic, recalling: “That was a really strange time, we dressed in very bright clothes, boiling apples.”
On social media, the Pirates of the Caribbean star admission was met with mixed reactions, with some fans accusing Knightley of being out of touch.
“Why would anyone admit this?” One person tweeted, while another said sarcastically: “The courage this must have required. She is so brave. “
Someone else wrote: “Celebrities, they are just like us …”.
Others jokingly scoffed at Knightley’s choice to dress in designer clothes during the lockdown, with one person writing: “Incredibly poor choice on their part, I personally have been wearing Target sweatpants (since no one will see me) and they are quite comfortable. “

Elsewhere in the cover interview, Knightley said that she considers makeup to be “armor,” before admitting that her family prefers to see her without it.
“Makeup is my armor, but my husband and oldest son don’t like it at all. My husband says, ‘Oh, it’s her. They don’t see it the way I do, and neither do I, ”he said. “It’s something different, like a character.”
When asked if that character was “nice,” the actress said, “Not particularly. No, it can’t be. It has to be pretty fierce. It’s armor, and I think it has to be.”
