Streaming services are skyrocketing. HBO Max will be available from June 29 throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Users will enjoy the WarnerMedia catalog (consisting of the productions of Warner Bros Pictures, New Line Cinema, Cinemax, Crunchyroll, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, DC Comics, TCM and HBO, etc.) and the “Max Originals”, a list series and movies produced exclusively for this platform.

HBO Max’s original premieres include the Kaley Cuoco starring series “The Flight Attendant,” the youth drama “Genera + ion” and the Ridley Scott-produced sci-fi story “Raised by Wolves.” They will share the platform with reality shows such as “Bake Off”, under the leadership of Angélica Vale. Additionally, live sports streaming will be added to its service in the coming months.

Tomás Yankelevich, Director of General Entertainment Content at WarnerMedia for the region, assured that the platform has been developing about 100 original productions in Latin America, which will be released in the remainder of this year and 2022.

However, on HBO Max in Latin America the movie premieres will not be released simultaneously as they do in the United States. In the region, the films will be available 35 days after the premiere on the big screen. This is how, for example, “The Suicide Squad”, which is scheduled to be released in theaters for June 30 in the US, will only hit HBO Max Latin America at the beginning of September.

In this context, eyes are on Netflix and the news it brings. Among them is the agreement it has signed with Steven Spielberg’s company, Amblin Partners, to produce several films a year.

Since its success with “Roma” at the Oscars, the pioneering platform has doubled down on film and has landed films like “Marriage Story,” “The Irishman” and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” With these merits, Netflix is promoting the production of feature films, with the promise of releasing one film a week.

The global emergency caused by COVID-19 has benefited Netflix, which has acquired films such as “The Trial of Chicago 7”, which Paramount was unable to release in theaters and, after a last minute sale, managed to become one of the most important hits of the streaming platform in the last season.

In addition, as part of his efforts to find a superhero franchise that can compete with Marvel (Disney +) and DC Comics (HBO Max), he has just signed Keanu Reeves to star in a film and series based on the comic “Brzrkr” , an immortal warrior devised by the actor himself.
