Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures delayed the release of “Dune”. The new tape of Denis Velleneuve (“Arrival”, “Blade Runner 2049”) adapts the story of the homonymous novel (Dunes, in its translation), a science fiction masterpiece written by Frank Herbet (1965).
After the film was postponed several times as a result of the outbreak of the pandemic and the consequent closure of movie theaters around the world, an estimated date was set for October 1. However, it was recently confirmed that the film would have its presentation on September 3 at the 78th edition of the Venice Film Festival (to be held between the 1st and the 11th of the same month).
In this context, the specialized medium Deadline, confirmed that “Dune” will indeed be presented worldwide at the Venice Film Festival and will reach TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) but its arrival in theaters will be on October 22.
The delay of “Dune” for the end of the month implies that another of the tanks that was also postponed due to the pandemic will go first: “No time to die”, the new James Bond and the last Daniel Craig as 007; who estimates his arrival at the theaters for the October 8th. Warner’s decision implies, therefore, not to compete in the same week with the MGM film.
Follow the story of Paul Atreides, a young Caladan, who must leave the comfort of his homeland to enter the adventures and threats of an unknown land, the dangerous mining planet known as Arrakis.
The one chosen to play Atreides is Timothée Chalamet, actor of the Oscar winners for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Costume, “Call me by your name” Y “Little Women”, respectively.
The main cast is completed by prestigious figures in Hollywood cinema such as Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron en “Star Wars”), Rebecca Ferguson (the Ilsa Faust of the last “Mission Impossible”), Josh Brolin (Thanos in “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Endgame”), Jason Momoa (“Aquaman” y “Game of Thrones”), Dave Bautista (Drax in “Guardians of the Galaxy”), zendaya (MJ in the last two of Marvel’s Spider-Man, “Euphoria” and in “The great Showman”) and the Spanish Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men”).
The film is part of Warner’s catalog, and as stipulated by its agreement with HBO, it will be available on its platform. HBO Max -available from June 29 in Latin America- 35 days after its premiere.
