After his success with the Netflix movie ‘The Chicago 7 Trial’, which plays in all pools for the Oscars, the director and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin will face the Biopic in his next project. ‘Being the Ricardos’ will deal with the life of Lucille Ball, one of the great pioneers of North American television, star of the iconic series ‘I love Lucy’. Nicole Kidman will be in charge of giving life to the actress, known as Lucy Ricardo in fiction.
The Australian actress spoke to Variety for the first time about her role and what Lucille represents to her: “She’s an amazing woman. I’m so excited for people to see what Aaron found out about her and the way she’s played Desi and Lucy and the way she’s so rich. I didn’t know about this.”, it affirmed. Next to Kidman will be Javier Bardem in the role of Cuban actor Desi Arnaz, known in the series as Lucy’s husband, Ricky Ricardo. Both will embody this marriage that crossed the small screen.
It won’t be a remake of ‘I love Lucy’
And someone who has shown great enthusiasm for this cast (as if not) has been Lucie Arnaz, daughter of the couple, who shared a video through Facebook where she expressed her excitement that Kidman plays her mother. In addition, thanks to your message, we have been able to learn some more clues about this project about which practically nothing is known yet.
While the daughter of the marriage clarified that the film would not be in any way a remake of ‘I love Lucy’, it could, at the same time, have revealed details of the plot: “We are not doing a remake of ‘I love Lucy’. No one has to imitate Lucy Ricardo, or do the Vitameatavegamina number, or the chocolate factory, or any of the nonsense “, clarified.
Instead, it will focus on the couple’s real life, behind and in front of the cameras: “It is the story of Lucille Ball, my real mother, not Lucy Ricardo, and her husband Desi Arnaz, my father, not Ricky Ricardo. There will be humor in the film, but it is a story of the two of them, and how they met, and what went right when they found the show, what went wrong: their relationship, their love affair“, He said.
In addition to signing the script for ‘Being the Ricardos’, Aaron Sorkin will be back behind the scenes on this project for Amazon Prime Video.
