Andrew Lincoln to star in several ‘The Walking Dead’ movies

The British Andrew Lincoln, main actor of the series ‘The Walking Dead’, will be the protagonist of various films of the franchise, the AMC chain reported today (November 5, 2018).

Lincoln, who said goodbye to the television format, will reprise its iconic role as Rick Grimes in several Projects to be shot under the umbrella of the producer AMC Studios Original Films and will feature scripts by Scott Gimple. The first film is expected to begin shooting in 2019.

“We have many things on the horizon, starting with an epic one led by one of the best actors in the history of the TV and one of the best people I have ever met, ”Gimple said in the statement.

According The Hollywood Reporter, Lincoln will be the protagonist of three different films of this horror saga and they will be broadcast on the AMC network itself.

In tonight’s episode of ‘The Walking Dead’, Grimes appeared seriously injured and transported in helicopter towards an unknown destination. The first of those announced films will explain what happened to the character and the new challenges it faces in full zombie apocalypse.

The premiere of the ninth season of ‘The Walking Dead’ in October brought together 6.08 million spectators in the US, the lowest mark achieved by a episode of the series since its second season, issued in 2011.

Despite this, ‘The Walking Dead’ is one of the most successful series in recent years. Just two years ago, the premiere of the seventh season attracted more than 17 million viewers.

After Lincoln’s departure, it will be Norman Reedus, the interpreter who gives life to Daryl Dixon, who takes the lead in the series.
