With the premiere of ‘Black Widow’ we not only investigated Natasha Romanoff’s past and clarified certain doubts, but also several interesting questions were left open that could define part of the future of the MCU.
Black Widow has answered several of the questions we had regarding Natasha Romanoff’s (Scarlett Johansson) past, but also has opened some unknowns that did not get their answer in the 2 hours and 14 minutes that the film lasted. It is time to dig into this, as it could indicate some of the paths that the Marvel Cinematic Universe would follow for Phase 4.
‘Black Widow’: The detail they removed from the post-credits scene
And it is that with the presentation of some characters such as Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Alexei Shostakov (David Harbor) or Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz), the universe that surrounds only Natasha has expanded, so it will indirectly continue to be present in the MCU despite his sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame that meant the end of the character. In addition, just with these introductions we are just before the beginning of several dramatic arcs that little by little will take shape for various protagonists.
Who is Mason?
Although we know that Mason (OT Fagbenle) is someone who achieves things for people silently and without leaving a trace, we are left wanting to know more about this role; who has he worked for and how much has been his relationship with Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), because they both have a certain level of trust.
Did Red Guardian and Captain America fight?
Alexei (David Harbour) constantly tells his fellow inmates stories about how he fought Captain America (Chris Evans). Although they make him see that this could not have been possible because Steve was still frozen, he assures that he does know him. Did this happen in another reality? Or the Red Guardian may even have faced another super soldier posing as the Avenger.
Who are Natasha’s biological parents?
Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) was about to learn more about her biological mother mainly, since she found out that she did not abandon her and struggled to have her back in her arms. Sadly, Dreykov (Ray Winstone) doesn’t contribute anything to this, but we know Nat’s father was named Ivan, at least it was Red Skull’s reveal during Avengers: Endgame. With all this, the question remains open about the biological parents of Romanoff and perhaps Yelena (Florence Pugh) can answer this by investigating his sister’s past.
Natasha Romanoff can no longer smell?
Dreykov (Ray Winstone) issued a pheromone that prevented someone from hitting him, however, Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) decides to severely damage a nerve related to the sense of smell. Although we see that her nose is recomposed, having suffered a tremendous blow like the one that was given leaves us wondering: did the Avenger lose her ability to smell after this action?
What happened between Natasha and General Ross?
In the scene near the end of Black Widow, Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) mentions that she will take care of General Ross (William Hurt), while his family and the rest of the widows escape the place. Sadly, we do not see what happens between the Avenger and her persecutor, so it leaves open the question of how is it that Romanoff escapes from so many people who accompanied the General?
What happened to the widows and Taskmaster?
At the end of Black Widow The widows who were in the Red Room and also Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko) are freed from mind control, however, this leaves open the question about what happened to these characters, finally their lives have changed radically and perhaps not all of them accept their new reality, so there could be villains and heroines among them.
Where did Alexei and Melina go?
Alexei (David Harbour) and Melina (Rachel Weisz) move away from Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) when the latter is asked to contain General Ross (William Hurt), but it is somewhat strange that we do not know anything about them during the events that took place after Black Widow and that culminated in Avengers: Endgame. Where did this pair of characters end up?
Where is Natasha’s grave?
Yelena (Florence Pugh) goes on vacation to visit the grave of her sister, Natasha (Scarlett Johansson), however, it is not revealed where it is located, only through Valentina (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) we know that it is somewhere in the Midwest of the United States. It is possible that the tombstone is in Ohio, given the connection that the site had with the childhood of the sisters, but this doubt remains open.
How did Valentina recruit Yelena?
To Valentina (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) we saw her in Falcon and the Winter Soldier recruiting John Walker (Wyatt Russell) and, judging from the conversation she has with Yelena (Florence Pugh), they have been working together for a long time, so the question is: when did this professional relationship start and how did Valentina convince Belova to collaborate with her?
Why does Valentina want to kill Hawkeye?
The post-credits scene of Black Widow has ValentinaJulia Louis-Dreyfus) chatting with Yelena (Florence Pugh) and the first mentions that the person responsible for Natasha’s death (Scarlett Johansson) is Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), something we know is not true given the Avenger’s sacrifice. With this in mind the question opens: why does Valentina want to annihilate Clint Barton? Perhaps the character in his stage as Ronin discovered something that affects the countess.
