The Malaga actor has put his mansion in the British capital up for sale for 3.5 million euros
In 2015, Antonio Banderas decided to move to the UK to study design and tailoring at the prestigious Central Saint Martins art and fashion school. There he chose a prefabricated house built by the German Huf Haus studio. A mansion in Surrey just 30 kilometers from London that the Malaga-born actor enjoyed with Nicole Kimpel while he was studying. After triumphing in Hollywood and gaining worldwide recognition in film and theater, the actor has decided to return to his homeland where he has launched different professional initiatives and where he says is his “vital project.” Now he has gone one step further and has put his London house up for sale for 3.5 million euros. In 2016, Banderas paid 3.1 million euros for one of the 200 luxury prefabricated houses built in the UK by the German studio.
The house, with a gabled roof, is located in the middle of nature and has clean and avant-garde lines, with glass and wood as protagonists, which allows the landscape to be integrated into the decoration of the house. With five bedrooms, several lounges and a leisure area, it also has a gym, sauna and a large garden with a swimming pool. There he moved away from the stressful rhythm of American life to enjoy the freedom of Surrey, known as the Beverly Hills of the United Kingdom since other celebrities such as Kate Winslet or Cate Blanchett reside there.
The house was built in a huge factory in Germany and both the actor and his partner, Nicole Kimpel, were able to make decisions about its design as the company offers a base design inspired by the Bauhaus architectural current, with simple, functional and functional buildings. free of ornamentation that admits modifications to adapt it to the taste of its buyers. Later, it was transferred and assembled at its destination.
One of its main attractions is that it is energy efficient, which, added to its bucolic environment, through which you can ride a bicycle, made it an ideal love nest. However, as he himself recited in 2017 when he received the award of honor at the Malaga Festival: «In the shadow of a boat / I want to lie down one day; / throw everything on my back / and dream with joy », his energy was in the capital of Malaga. The verses of the poem ‘Por la mar chica del puerto’ by Manuel Alcántara have been serving as a guide and this is where they have finally settled.
In Malaga he has launched the Soho Theater in the old Alameda Theater, one of the city’s classics. A project that he managed to carry out without public funding by putting all his know-how and what he learned in the American entertainment industry. The global health pandemic of covid-19 truncated the natural future of the artistic space but, far from being daunted, it decided to accelerate the launch of a production company for the development of projects for television that acts in parallel to the activity of the theater.
