It is clear that a little over a year after its launch, it has not been possible to see even a bit of the content that has been developed, or is planned, for Disney +, which will not only bring reboots, but will also bring familiar faces back to the screen, an example of this is that Zach Braff joins the cast of ‘Cheaper by the Dozen’.
The news comes after a few other production updates have been announced., as Kenya Barris co-writes the script and produces. Gabrielle Union will co-star alongside Braff.
Gail Lerner will also lead the project, and already has a relationship with Barris based on her experience with ‘Black-ish’.
This time around, the story will focus on a multiracial family, but it still has the blending elements that recent viewers fell in love with from previous remake efforts.
All of the ‘Cheaper by the Dozen’ films are based on the 1948 novel by Frank Bunker Gilbreth Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey. In those pages, the writers present a biographical account of their family’s experiences in the 1920s.
In 1950, Fox hired Clifton Webb and Myrna Loy to play the title roles. In 2003, Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt remake the film for a new audience. Now Zach Braff joins the cast of ‘Cheaper by the Dozen’ to star it towards a new generation.
If the last two versions are any indication, this too will be a hit with the public. Together, they totaled $ 310 million at the global box office.
The release date of ‘Cheaper by the Dozen’ has not been confirmed but is believed to be in 2022Although there are those who believe that it could change its date due to the pandemic, Disney has kept its schedule in productions of the streaming platform unchanged since Disney’s Investor Day.
